After winning the High Times Cup in 1998 and winning 2nd prize at the 2003 Cannabis Cup, the popularity of the indica-leaning hybrid strain Pot of Gold soared. Its cured buds are covered with a visible coating of trichomes amid slightly orange pistils that almost give it a golden hue that supports its naming.
The scent and flavor of Pot of Gold are a mix of sweet earth and fruit, bearing hints of pine as well.
THC levels tend to average in the mid-teens, making this a go-to strain for novice and veteran consumers alike according to reviewers.
Effects have been described as heavying the eyes and leading to sedation, with reviewers preferring to use it in the evenings or at night. Some have experienced less chronic pain and sill others have used it to fight insomnia.
The parent strains of Pot of Gold are Hindu Kush and Skunk #1.
This strain is one of my favorites. The smell essentially overpowers all other strains I have recently had. Pungent and strong and the taste follows that very well. I prefer this strain in pipes so I can really taste everything it has to offer. As for the effect department, it is one of the strongest indica plants I have experienced next to Gods Gift and Grand Doggy Purp.
FINALLY a strain to ease my pain! One small bowl and I’m comfy, functioning, able to get stuff done, yet at the end of the high I fell mellow, sleepy and calm. A surprisingly productive strain that I am glad I’ve found. Hopefully supplier keeps this in stock on a regular basis.
Bought this cuz I was told it had a high thc…man I haven’t moved from my couch in about 20 minutes. It’s a great relaxing high. This is probably going to best as a nighttime strain. Is it time for bed yet?
Unlike some strains which can sometimes make you more sensitive. I’ve found that this helps me relax more and take my mind off my bad back. The reason why I like this strain so much is because it’s not to overpowering and how it effects my body I can enjoy it during the day time as well as the evening. Its one of those strains that I think is a good all rounder.
The effects are great, leaves you nicely chilled and happy but the effects aren’t too overpowering. Also a bonus I’f suffer from chronic aches and pains.
Hands down my most favorite indica I’ve tried, and this is next to Cali and CO med strains. My particular flowers were medically grown so everything was perfect. Smell, taste, stickiness…perfect. A+
